ISSUE 1 - SEPTEMBER 2004
"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."

Hello and welcome to the very first issue of FaithWriters’ Magazine – the freshest, brightest and newest Christian magazine on the Internet.

I think most people enjoy new things, and I have to admit that I’m no exception. There’s nothing quite like being right at the very start of something as fresh as the morning dew on a clear, bright day. It’s exciting, invigorating, exhilarating and, usually, just plain fun!

And that’s exactly how we feel at FaithWriters’ Magazine! The Team has been working very hard to bring you a first issue that’s full of life, inspiration, information and encouragement to put a smile on your face and give your day a faith lift.

Our September issue is overflowing with great reading and here are just some of the things you’ll find inside…

It’s back to school for many families right now and that means it’s also back to school in our ‘Tis the Season Department. If this is your first time as a school mom or dad, then make sure you read Bittersweet Beginnings by Lynda Schab. Even though my children are long past their kindergarten days (in fact, the oldest is training to be a kindergarten teacher), I still had a little tear in my eye as I read Lynda’s story about letting go.

After that, pack up your tissues and mosey on over to "A Merry Heart" where you can read all about the dangerous pack of "man-eating cattle" in Dori Knight’s delightfully funny, true-life "adventure", The Chasing Cows.

Have you ever been too scared to try something new because you thought you couldn’t possibly do it? I know I’m guilty of that way too often, which is why I was so inspired by S. Megan Payne’s short story, All Things Through Christ, which can be found in our Heaven Bound Department.

Now keep this as our little secret, but I did sneak into the Just Between Men section of our magazine and found that both articles had quite a lot to say to me as well – particularly Keeping Time by Randy Chambers. Managing our time wisely in this fast-paced world isn’t always easy, so Randy’s message is such a good reminder about keeping our priorities in order.

But this is just the tiniest taste of what’s inside this month’s FaithWriters’ Magazine! I know you’ll enjoy exploring each department, and if you see something that you want to share with a friend, then there’s a place on every page for you to be able to do just that.

Also, we want you to be involved in the life of our Magazine. Both the Teen Truth and Word in Season Departments invite you to send in your questions each month, and there’s also a special section just for your letters to FaithWriters’ Magazine. You can send us a message very easily via our Letters page and we’ll be publishing a selection each month, with a prize for the Star Letter. We can’t wait to hear from you!

And there’s more to come … we’re planning to introduce new departments on a regular basis so that there’ll be even more to bless and encourage you each month.

But for now, I hope you’ll have a wonderful time browsing through the September issue of FaithWriters’ Magazine, and before you go, why not take a moment to subscribe to our newsletter so that you’ll never run the risk of missing even a single issue.

Until next month, may God bless you and your loved ones every day and in every way,

Deb Porter
