Rejoice! The Lord is Online!
By Patricia Ouellette

Hear the word of the LORD, O nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands: ĎHe who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.' (Jeremiah 31:10 NIV)

I very much doubt Jeremiah had computers or the Internet in mind when he made this statement. Yet today we use computers and the Internet prolifically in our daily walk with the Lord. I also doubt that the men and women who instigated this medium had Christian discipleship or ministry in mind when they developed this marvelous technology.

Our God is so good, because He did have computers and the Internet in mind for His glorious ministry.

The magnitude of this medium has made ministry so interesting and fascinating. It has also helped so many to see and hear the evidence of Godís awesome presence in so many lives and in so many nations.

Just Too Late
By David Ritchie

I lost a really good friend last week. I was not at all prepared for it, so needless to say it really hit me hard. It was one of those too regular occasions, when I arrived just that little bit late. I knew something was wrong as soon as I entered the house. I rushed to the bedroom but paused at the door as I heard those unusual sounds. Preparing myself for the worst I opened the door and as soon as I entered the bedroom I knew I had arrived too late; life was quickly ebbing away.

There was nothing I could do. The feeling of helplessness and loss was overwhelming; it felt like a weight had descended upon me starting from my head through my whole body. I was in absolute shock as the realization of my loss dawned upon me. I had not been prepared for this.

Step-By-Step Tutorial: Windows Basics for the First Time User
Part 3a Ė Highlighting
By Patricia Ouellette

A lot of new users and the elderly have difficulty with highlighting text. Whether it is a menu item, a word, or a paragraph; it can cause some people a lot of grief. Highlighting will allow you to do many things. It is how we communicate with our computer what we want it to do with a specific word, phrase, paragraph or graphic.

For example, if we ask another person to move a box from "A" to "B," we can just speak the request and point to visibly show what we are talking about. We canít do that with a computer, so highlighting is how we visibly point to the command or request that we want the computer to do the next.

The SWORD Project
http://www.crosswire.org/sword/index.jsp

This is an awesome online project, which has downloadable software and plug-ins. It is a free service with many great features. I have been using this software personally and have found it very useful in my ministry work. They are adding new bible versions, reference books, apologetics and so much more all the time. It is extremely user-friendly and a breeze to install and add new modules too. Check it out.

They are always in need of volunteers to assist with transcribing, editing and module building. If you think you can help, please do. This is a very worthwhile project.

Tip of the Month

Do you have a surge protector for your computer? Wherever there is electricity there are surges and brownouts. Protect your computer and place a surge protector either in your electrical meter box or at the power point. It will help with insurance claims if any damage does occur and will reduce the risk of frying your computers circuits and hardware. It is well worth the cost to place a surge protector on your mains, because your computer will not be the only thing that is protected. Mains protection will also help prevent surge or brownout damage to your television, stereo, microwaves and all your other electrical appliances. Donít forget to check with your insurance company to see if they give discounts or rebates for houses with mains protectors.
