Rejoice! The Lord is Online!
By Patricia Ouellette

Hear the word of the LORD, O nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands: ĎHe who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.' (Jeremiah 31:10 NIV)

I very much doubt Jeremiah had computers or the Internet in mind when he made this statement. Yet today we use computers and the Internet prolifically in our daily walk with the Lord. I also doubt that the men and women who instigated this medium had Christian discipleship or ministry in mind when they developed this marvelous technology.

Our God is so good, because He did have computers and the Internet in mind for His glorious ministry.

The magnitude of this medium has made ministry so interesting and fascinating. It has also helped so many to see and hear the evidence of Godís awesome presence in so many lives and in so many nations. Witnessing to millions within the blink of an eye has been made possible by the popularity of the Internet. It is so pleasing to see so many churches and ministries using the Internet to proclaim the Gospel to the world.

A search in any search engine will bring up millions of websites proclaiming God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. A little trivia to contemplate: In Google if you do a search for God you will receive a listing of 107,000,000 sites in 0.16 of a second; a search for Jesus will list 43,100,000 in 0.11 of a second; if you search for Holy Spirit you will have a list of 11,900,000 sites in 0.10 of a second and Gospel will give you 25,900,000 sites in 0.19 of a second. Everyday those figures are rising and it is very pleasing to see.

With the advent of the computer age has come bible software of all languages and versions, some with multiple versions of the bible in one piece of software. There are online bibles we can search for words, verses or phrases. Some wonderful people have developed online resources and software with the concordance and reference bibles. There are even programs that will allow you to email scripture or devotionals to friends. The resources are becoming endless, resources which allow all of us to access a bible at any time and in any language.

In Jeremiah it says "Hear the word of the LORD, O nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands." God has even led people to create audio bibles, not only on cassette and CD but also on the Internet for anyone to listen too. This has made the Word of God accessible to the disabled, the blind, the infirmed and for those of us that prefer to listen rather than read. Praise Jesus, we also have audiovisual bibles for children coming out in software, with beautiful graphics and music to help the children enjoy and learn the Word of God.

Through my husbandís Internet Ministry and those of Christian Web hosting ministries with whom we are in contact, I am brought to tears of joy when I see how many new Christian ministries are coming online each day. Each day I am also in awe of Godís amazing foresight and wisdom in His use of the Internet and computers to enrich the lives of millions, which is evident in the vast number of hits each ministry on the Internet receives. To think that even someone who stumbles upon a Christian site by mistake is taking in the Word of God and is being impacted by it in some small way - that is a victory to the Lord.

We hear so often of all the bad things thatís happening on the Internet. With this article my desire is to help all who read this to rejoice in the Lord and the many awesome Victories that are happening every second of every day without any us even knowing it.

Is Jesus online? Oh Yeah! He most certainly is.
