Hearing God SpeakBeing Your Best By Toni Smothers

"Be sure to do what you should, for then you will enjoy the personal satisfaction of having done your work well, and you wonít need to compare yourself to any one else." (Galatians 6:4 NLT)

Paul warned the people not to make meaningless comparisons between themselves. Each of us is a unique person because God made us that way. He didnít want everyone to be alike. God is the author of variety and his creation abounds with numerous breeds of animals, types of plants, as well as types of people. (Just think of the mix you experience in your own school.)

You canít worry about fitting in with the worldís ways and standards. You need to be responsible for your own actions and follow the path that God has specifically planned for you. (Easy? No way Ė but, it is do-able.)

No Christian, young or old, should ever think that he or she is totally independent and doesnít need help from others and no one should feel excused from the task of helping others.

Hearing God SpeakQuestion:

How do I turn my life over to God when I have to live an everyday life at school with my friends and with my family?

When we turn ourselves over to our Creator, God, it is the most important decision of our lives and the first step toward fulfilling our purpose in life.

You chose a good word (turn) to describe the process of repentance and renewal. The Bible tells us that we must "...put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator." (Colossians 3:10 NIV) We gradually move closer to God and confess our sinfulness and dire need of Him. Then He forgives, blesses and gradually recreates us into who He always meant us to become.

If you would like to accept Godís free offer of salvation, pray this simple prayer and by faith invite Him to fill you with His Spirit:

Dear Father, I need you. I confess that I have sinned against you by living my life as if I actually knew what I was doing. I have made many bad decisions and done many things I am ashamed of. I thank you for forgiving my sins through the blood of your precious son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for me. I now invite Jesus to take His rightful place in my heart as ruler of my life. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. I believe that you love me just as I am and I ask you to teach me how to love you back. Create in me a clean heart as you show me how to live each day for You.
