 The Lion Weeps Tonight

During the month of March, we celebrate some very important occurrences. In the United States, spring begins on March 21. March may come "in like a Lion" and leave "like a Lamb." I think it’s safe to say that most have heard that statement before. However, we all know there’s more to the season than just the weather.
When I think of a lion, I think of The King of the Jungle, which then reminds me of Jesus, The King of the Jews. "Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory." (1 Timothy 1:17 NIV)
But not all believed Jesus to be King.
For Christians, Easter Season begins with it Ash Wednesday, on February 9, 2005 and continues through to Good Friday on March 25, the day the King became the Lamb. "The written notice of the charge against him read: ‘The King of the Jews’." (Mark 15:26 NIV)
When I was a little girl, I didn’t understand why we called that day, "Good Friday." Why would people say it’s good that Jesus died? Of course, now I understand that Jesus died in order for us to have life. Easter, the day we celebrate Christ’s resurrection, lands on March 27 this year. We celebrate because we know Jesus lives.
If we look at March closely, whether it leaves as a lion or a lamb, it is still completing its final exit as an entrance – an entrance to a new beginning. Jesus’ resurrection gave us the opportunity to do the same, if we believe.
I’ve never liked the month of March unless it includes a celebration of our Lord. It rains too much, and it’s not quite warm enough to enjoy the outside weather. However, there are a few days when the sun sneaks out for a peak. The sun’s warmth shines on my face just long enough to offer me a glimpse of what’s to come.
Maybe the month of March represents the emotions the people felt during the time from Palm Sunday until Easter. So much confusion, so much doubt and uncertainty, yet so much hope. Hope that all that is expected will come.
