Be Expressive... Use A Smiley!
By Patricia Ouellette
Have you ever wondered how to do those wacky little yellow smiley’s? Smiley’s, or emoticons as they are actually called, are used profusely in chat programs, forums, message and bulletin boards. They are an effective way to be more expressive and emotional; and can be really great fun to use.
Programs such as Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger and the like use emoticons extensively. HTML, Perle, CGI, PHP and ASP coded forums and message boards also use emoticons. Some will have pre-programmed emoticons installed, which you only need to click or double click on to use.

Tip of the Month
One of the biggest threats to a computer is an electrical storm. Whether you have a surge protector or not, nothing will save your system if lightning strikes within a 2-kilometer radius of your home.
If you hear thunder or see lightning, be sure to shutdown your system and unplug all electrical cables from the power outlet. Modems are extremely sensitive so be sure to take out the telephone cable to your modems also. This is one of the best ways to protect your computer and save yourself a lot of unnecessary expense and heartache. Using a multipoint surge protected power board will enable you to do this easily by unplugging the power board only.
